Cry Me a River is a feature documentary we have been filming since 2024 in Sepaku, East Kalimantan, where Indonesia's new capital city is rising on Balik ancestral land.
Syamsiah moves uphill to grow food the way her ancestors did. Her son Randi cuts hair inside the new capital. A mother and a son, pulled by two forces, holding one family together.
Two more years of filming ahead. We are looking for co-producers, financing partners, mentors in ethical storytelling and community benefit-sharing, and impact partners for community screenings.
The first screening belongs to Sepaku. Everything else comes after.
