My wife is 13 years old older than me. It makes me wonder a lot. What is aging? What is young? Old? Why do we age?
Ever since I first fell in love with my wife, I always realize that through her I am looking at the reality of Anicca (impermanence), which always brings Dhukka (dissatisfaction), but all the dissatisfaction and sadness will ultimately go away once we realize that we are all Anatman (without self), that we are no one and everyone at the same time.
So what are young and old? Do we need an age to find the true meaning of life? Great spiritual sage like Buddha, Jesus and Muhammad found their enlightenment and wisdom in their youth, but millions of people can’t get out from their cravings and aversions even in their oldest selves.
Looking at my wife I always see a youth with a thirst for exploration, a loving mother that befriends her son, an equal partner in life (and business 😁), a creative and loving woman loved by so many people! ❤️
In her half-century in this Cosmos, she always walks the furthest path, which a lot of people even in their 20s or 30s can’t. She keeps on creating and touching people’s hearts with her ideas, works and loving-kindness. She creates and transforms the life of a now almost 10 years old boy.
I’ve matured and sipped the taste of wisdom earlier in this life because of you. How amazing we, two people from different races, cultures, backgrounds, languages, and ages, can unite and form a new life, a new family.
Happy continuation day my dearest wife. I hope you always keep finding your peace, happiness and wisdom from moment to moment, from each step of your walking, from each of your breaths flowing in and out.
Happy half-century in this Cosmos!
