Anātman in Sanskrit means “without self” or “without core.” Everything in this universe is without self and without core, because of change. Nothing is eternal; everything changes. Seventy trillion atoms in our body five years ago are no longer the same atoms. There is no “me from five years ago” anymore. No core, no self, no “me.”

With anātman, I am always aware that this self is not the centre of everything. I and everything outside of me are always connected. A sense of gratitude arises; compassion wells up and flows to all that is “living” and “non-living.” Loving-kindness lives, manifests, and radiates.
